Privacy Policy
How Burress Construction collects, uses, and protects the information you share with us.
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Burress Construction respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, request an estimate, or work with us on a project, how we use that information, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, call us and we will walk you through it.
This policy applies to burressconstruction.com and to information you give us by phone, text, or email. Our website and services are intended for people in the United States.
1. Who we are
Burress Construction is a post-frame and general construction company located in Piedmont, South Dakota, serving Rapid City and the Black Hills region of western South Dakota. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Burress Construction. "You" refers to anyone who visits our website or contacts us about a project.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to answer your questions and build your project.
Information you give us
- Your name, phone number, and email address
- The property address or job site location for your project
- Details about what you want to build, including size, budget range, and timeline
- Any plans, drawings, photos, or documents you send us
- Messages and correspondence you send through our contact form, by email, by text, or by phone
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, our hosting provider and analytics tools may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring website, the pages you view, the dates and times of your visits, and which buttons or links you click. This includes recording when a visitor clicks a phone number or call button on the site, which tells us how many calls the website generates. We do not record or listen to your phone calls.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiry and prepare an estimate
- Schedule site visits, design meetings, and construction work
- Order materials and coordinate subcontractors, engineers, and suppliers for your project
- Apply for permits and meet county, state, and building code requirements
- Send invoices, contracts, change orders, and warranty information
- Follow up on estimates, answer questions, and provide service after your project is complete
- Improve our website, understand which pages and services people find useful, and measure the performance of our advertising
- Meet our legal, tax, insurance, and recordkeeping obligations
4. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working properly, to measure traffic, and to run our advertising. Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use:
- Essential cookies that allow pages and forms to function.
- Analytics cookies, including Google Analytics, that help us understand how visitors find and use the site.
- Advertising cookies and tracking pixels, including the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) and Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags. These let us measure which ads lead to inquiries and show our ads to people who have previously visited our website. Google and Meta receive information about your visit through these tags and handle it under their own privacy policies.
You have several ways to limit this:
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.
- Adjust what Google shows you at myadcenter.google.com.
- Adjust your Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
- Opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using Google's browser add-on at
tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Most browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to it, our site does not currently respond to those signals.
5. Text messages and phone calls
If you give us your phone number, we may call or text you about your estimate, your project schedule, or questions we have during construction. We text about active inquiries and projects only, so message frequency varies and depends on your project. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help. You can also simply tell us to stop and we will honor that. Opting out of texts does not affect our ability to reach you by phone or email about work already underway.
We do not sell your phone number, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do not record phone calls.
6. When we share your information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only in these situations:
- With people who help build your project.
Subcontractors, engineers, truss and material suppliers, and delivery crews receive the details they need, such as the job site address and building specifications. - With government agencies.
Permit applications and inspections require us to submit project and property information to county and municipal offices. - With service providers.
Companies that host our website, send our email, process payments, or provide accounting and analytics services may handle your information on our behalf, and are expected to keep it confidential. - With advertising platforms.
As described in Section 4, Google and Meta receive website activity information through their tracking tags. Under some state privacy laws this activity is considered "sharing" for targeted advertising even though no money changes hands. Section 4 explains how to limit it. - With your lender or insurer,
when you ask us to provide plans, specifications, or estimates for financing or an insurance claim. - When the law requires it,
including in response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety. - In a business transfer,
if our business is sold or reorganized, in which case your information would transfer with it under the terms of this policy.
We do not share the information you give us directly, your name, phone number, email, or project details, with advertising platforms.
7. Project photos
We photograph our completed work and may use those photos on our website, in our project galleries, on social media, and in advertising. These photos show buildings, not people, and we do not publish your name, street address, or contact information alongside them without your permission. If you would prefer that photos of your project not be used, tell us and we will respect that.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep inquiry and estimate information for as long as it is useful for following up with you. Project records, contracts, invoices, plans, and warranty documentation are retained for as long as required by our tax, insurance, and legal obligations, and for as long as they may be needed to honor a warranty or resolve a dispute. When information is no longer needed, we dispose of it securely.
9. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including limiting access to the people who need it and using secured accounts and devices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or full financial account numbers through our website contact form or by unencrypted email.
10. Your choices
You are in control of the information you share with us. Whatever state you live in, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we have about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete information we are not required to keep for tax, warranty, or legal reasons
- Stop contacting you by phone, text, or email
- Stop using photos of your project
You can also unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in that message, and limit advertising tracking using the methods in Section 4.
To make a request, contact us using the information in Section 14. We will respond within a reasonable time and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Several states have comprehensive consumer privacy laws that grant additional formal rights. Those laws generally apply to businesses above certain revenue or data-volume thresholds that we do not meet, and South Dakota has not enacted one. We honor the requests listed above regardless.
11. Children's privacy
Our website and services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Third-party links and services
Our website links to other sites, including our Facebook page and the EPS Buildings design tool. Those sites are operated by other companies and have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information, so review their policies before sharing information with them.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be posted here, and continuing to use our website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
